Emma is a Speech-Language Therapist who joined the TalkLink team in April 2007. She is involved in working with clients with a range of communication needs. Emma works alongside clients and their support network in the assessment of communication skills, identification and trialling of strategies/tools/devices to enhance the client’s everyday communication. When communication devices have been issued, Emma will support the team with training and implementation. Along with the other TalkLink Speech-Language Therapists, Emma is also involved in running training courses and organising support group meetings for TalkLink clients.
Emma completed a postgraduate training course at the University of Sheffield and began work in England in 2004. Her interest in assistive technology began whilst working with students using communication devices in special school settings. Emma has experience of working in paediatrics with children with speech and language delay and communication disorders including autism.
Emma moved to New Zealand in 2006, and worked with a wide range of children and young people in schools and early childhood centres in and around the Auckland area before moving to TalkLink.
