Julie is a Speech & Language Therapist who will work alongside clients and their supporters to assist with the decisions required to achieve the best available option to empower her clients to reach their goals. Communication is a fundamental right for all.
Julie has had a varied work experience both in Britain and for the past six years here in N.Z. She has worked with clients and their families dealing with many different presentations. These have included Special Educational Needs, Acquired or Progressive disorders and Traumatic Brain Injury. This has involved her in using direct interventions and training for families/carers and all support staff. Her experience in NZ includes working for DHB’s, Special Schools, Community Trusts, Private Healthcare and most recently having been in Independent Practice.
Julie graduated as a mature student from University of Strathclyde, Scotland in 1996 with a BSc in Speech Pathology. Studying full-time and balancing the needs of her three children was a learning curve which has informed her working life ever since!
Recently remarried (was Roopra now Tan) She feels settled and lucky to be living and working in such a beautiful part of the world.
