Melissa Potter

Speech Language Therapist

Melissa Potter, speech-language therapist

I am a Speech-Language Therapist who joined Talklink Wellington in March 2007.

My role involves assessing adult clients’ communication needs and abilities, then recommending appropriate communication devices and techniques. If  equipment trials are successful, then I am involved in completing funding applications to Enable New Zealand for individual clients.

I come from the North East of England. My training as a Speech- Language Therapist was at Strathclyde University in Glasgow, and then I went on to work with paediatric, special needs and adult caseloads in Edinburgh and the North East of England. I also worked in 2006 as a volunteer Speech-Language Therapist for the charity International China Concern, setting up a Speech-Language Therapy service for their special needs orphanages in Central China.

I then moved to New Zealand at the end of 2006, and have since enjoyed living and working in Wellington.
