Defined as, “any item, piece of equipment or system that is used to increase or improve functional capabilities of people with disabilities”.

Assistive technology communication equipment ranges from low technology options such as word boards or communication books to high technology options such as voice output communication devices and a range of specialised computer software and hardware.
