Talking Mats Courses 2018


Could Talking Mats help you?

Talking Mats® has the potential for use with a wide range of people. It is a visual framework, which helps people think about issues and provides them with a way of expressing their views more easily.

Participants have included Occupational Therapists, Dieticians, Doctors, Nurses, Advocacy Workers, Service Planners, Social Workers, Speech-Language Therapists, Care Workers, Teachers, Rehabilitation Assistants, Researchers, Psychologists.

Clients can include people with a learning disability, stroke, dementia, neurological difficulties, mental health issues, the elderly, children and young people.

Course Format:

The two-part course is structured to allow participants time to reflect and develop their own communication skills between the two sessions. Each participant will receive a resource as part of the course. That way you can put your training into practice straight away. Participants select a resource most suited for their client group to accompany their training.


Upcoming Workshops

The Talking Mats workshop is held over two half days.


  • Auckland – Tuesday June 5th & Wednesday July 11th, 9:30-12:30, TalkLink Office, Building 51, Entry 3, Unitec, Carrington Road, Mount Albert. 
  • Wellington – 16th of July and 20th of August, 9:00 – 12:00 pm, Ewart Building, Coromandel St, Newtown 
Fee: $250 including GST. In order to secure a place on the course please register asap, numbers are limited.


All sessions are to be held in the morning, unless otherwise mentioned.
